About Our Superintendent: Superintendent Michael Steck was selected by the Veribest Independent School District, Board of Trustees on July 1, 2008. Before coming to Veribest, he had served as Hawley High School Principal, a 2-A high school near Abilene, Texas. While serving as Principal, Hawley High School had many facility improvements and received the Texas Education Agency rating as a Recognized Campus.
Mr. Steck has held various positions at varied and diverse districts throughout his 25 years in education; starting as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher in Dumas, Texas, serving as Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach in a 1-A, 4-A and 5-A district, Middle School Principal and Director of Special Programs for the Dallas Independent School District.
Mr. Steck has a strong track record as being an advocate for children and has over seen dramatic improvements in student achievements. He has demonstrated the ability to integrate the interests of the community into a comprehensive education program, delivered excellence through a curriculum and instruction program that focuses on success for every student; as well as implemented methods to satisfy stakeholders’ demands for school accountability.
Mr. Steck appreciates the rich history of teaching and supporting students in academics, vocational offerings, technology, fine arts, and athletics that is evident at Veribest ISD. He believes in the importance of excellent teachers and coaches in every classroom, on every stage, or athletic court, course or field and is always appreciative of the special teachers who hold students’ dreams for them until the students believe and can hold them on their own. “I consider it an honor and a privilege to represent the Board of Education, students, faculty and staff of the Veribest Independent School District. Our district is blessed with a knowledgeable and supportive school board that places the emphasis of each and every decision on the welfare of the students within the District. In addition, the high quality of the student body at Veribest ISD is unparalleled to any other. The faculty and staff at Veribest ISD take pride in their goal of supporting the students of the District in their daily pursuit of educational excellence.”
