Mr. Newman was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health, All-Level Physical Education, and a Minor in English. He later earned his Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Angelo State University.
During his diverse career, Mr. Newman has taught and coached in the San Angelo ISD; served as a K-12 Counselor with the Christoval and Eldorado ISD's; High School Principal with the Eldorado ISD; Middle School and High School Couselor with the Bracketville ISD; Elementary and Middle School Counselor with the Eldorado ISD; and now serves as the Veribest Middle School and High School Principal.
Ken is married to his lovely wife Kathy (Hardegree), formerly of Sonora; and who is presently a counselor with the Eldorado ISD. Ken has two daughters; Gentry, who is a graduate of Texas Tech. and employed with the Stockdale ISD. She is married to Tanner Fields; a strength and conditioning coach for the Houston Astros Organization. Ken's daughter Emily is a 2009 graduate from Texas Tech. with an Accounting and Finance Degree, currently working as an accountant in Midland, Texas. Mr. Newman's pursuit of excellence is indicative of his character, and is second to none.
 Recipient of the Govenor's Educators Excellence Award Grant
In November 2005, Governor Rick Perry initiated the $10 million grant program for paying bonuses to school employees who have performed above expectations in raising student performance levels. One hundred Texas schools have been invited to participate in the Governor’s Educator Excellence Award Program. To date, 98 have accepted the invitation. The Intent of the Governor’s excellence award program is to say a very sincere “thank you” to the teachers and staff who go the extra mile to help students succeed.
